Colour Sorting & No Recognition (1a)

This is a very simple activity to set up for your little ones – save up some different coloured lids and an empty egg box.

Initially, I coloured the inside of the egg box with six different colours which corresponded to the lid colours I had collected. I left it out as an invitation to play.

Miss 3 enjoyed swirling the lids around and then started placing them in the corresponding coloured slots in the egg box.

Next, I wrote the numbers 1 to 6 in the egg box and ensured that the number of lids corresponded to numbers in the box. For example, there was one white lid which fitted into the white slot with the number 1, two orange lids that went into the orange slot with the number 2, etc.

Tip: choose the smaller lids for the larger numbers so that they can all fit into the space!

This was such a simple and fun activity for Miss 3. Once she had finished, we placed all the lids back in the egg box and stored it away ready for the next time!
