Autumn Trees

We have been doing lots of activities relating to Autumn of late! Such a pretty time of year and so many stunning colours around us.

Living in the country side, you really notice the changing of the seasons and the change in the trees, particularly during our drive down to school. So, we made our own Autumn Trees to add to our Autumn table!

We collected some empty kitchen rolls and selected some pretty autumnal colours – red, orange, yellow, green. Miss 3 then set about squirting the colours into an empty plastic tub.

Miss 3 then rolled the tubes into the poster paints. The effects were beautiful. The colours were so vibrant and the rolling created some stunning marbling effects.

Miss 3 absolutely loves getting right in there and today was no exception.              Messy Hands!

Once we had finished decorating the tubes, there was some opportunity for mark making at the bottom of the tub

Then we had to wait for our tubes to dry – they dried a slightly duller colour but still very pretty.

I then laid out some leaves that we had collected on our autumn scavenger walk and let both children stick them on to their ‘trees’ with double-sided sticky tape. This was a good opportunity to practice using those finer motor skills.

Don’t they look pretty?
